Lawn Mowing Tips for a Fresh-Looking Lawn
Maintenance
After a while mowing starts to become a routine activity that is the same again and again.
Changing this routine slightly can give your lawn a fresh look. Just one of the following tips can drastically change the look of your lawn.
Mix up the way you mow. Your lawn has a memory, of sorts, of how you mow.
If you follow the same direction and pattern every time you mow, your lawn may start to lie in one direction or the mower may cause compacted ruts.
By simply alternating the direction and pattern your grass will be able to pick itself back up.
Sharpen your mower blade. This may sound super simple but a dull blade will tear your grass rather than cut it.
This will create a jagged, uneven effect on your lawn. As well as looking unpleasant, the teas can leave your lawn susceptible to pests and disease.
Mow in the morning. Mowing can be stressful for lawns and this is heightened in the heat of the day.
The best time to mow is in the morning after the dew has dried, preferably while your lawn is in shade.
Use the half-pass trick. Half-pass mowing involves you overlapping by half of the previously mowed section.
It sounds like it would take longer but it is easier to mow and it catches anything you might have missed on the first turn.
Consider a robot lawn mower. These little guys really do work, but like anything that’s too good to be true, there’s a few things you need to consider.
You’ll need to spend time laying the perimeter wire, some replacement batteries are expensive and if the perimeter wire gets cut it can be a pain to find it underground to repair it
Just a small change can make a big difference for your lawn.
